If you’re looking for a ‘how babies are made’ book, then you’re in the right place! As I have lots of them!
As you’ll find the right ‘how a baby is made’ book for your child, to help with explaining how a baby is made!
For many parents, finding some children’s books about how babies are made, can make explaining a tricky subject a lot easier! Especially if you’re child is already asking questions about how are babies made!
And explaining ‘how a baby is made’ to your child, can be one of the trickiest conversations you will ever have!
Why? Because we are usually talking about sex or sexual intercourse for the first time! And that scares the pants off most parents!
But luckily, there are some fantastic children’s books about how babies are made that will allow you to explain this honestly (and hopefully more comfortably) to your child.
The books listed here are all books that talk about how babies are made. Which means that they will all talk about sexual intercourse. You can find the books that don’t talk about sexual intercourse (or how babies are made) in the ‘where do babies come from’ book list.
If you are unsure about how to start talking with your child about sexual intercourse, you can find more in this blog post about how to explain sex to kids. If you need more help, do go and have a look at my book, How to talk to kids about sexual intercourse, as it will help you to get started!
This blogpost will show you some of my favourite books that talk about how a baby is made in a number of different ways. This includes the old fashioned way (sexual intercourse ie a penis going into a vagina), as well as IVF, surrogacy and adoption. There are books for kids from preschoolers right up to tweens.
You’re sure to find the right ‘how a baby is made’ book in this list! And if you’re having trouble deciding, then I’d suggest having a look at my age-appropriate list of sex education books, as that is where you’ll find my age-specific recommendations.
You can find more books about different topics in the main list of Sex Education Books for Children.
And if you find this list a little overwhelming, you might want to look at the age-appropriate list of sex education books.
You’ll find more information about sex education in my Sex Education 101 page.
Children’s books about sexual intercourse
You’ll find an age-specific list of books that explian how babies are made (AKA sexual intercourse). Just click on the age of your child, and you’ll be taken straight to that booklist.
NOTE: Before passing any book to your child or reading the book with your child, you should read it yourself first. I might think it is a great book for a certain age child or that the information is valuable, but you may disagree. You need to choose books that reflect your values and the messages you want your child to receive.
