Doing It! by Hannah Witton

Book Review

A short overview of this book

Doing It! by the popular Youtuber Hannah Witton provides teens with a very straightforward and laidback approach to everything they need to know about sex.

It has a really good section on consent, sexting and pornography which is good to see! Plus the usual stuff on STIs, contraception, sex, body image, masturbation etc. A great resource for teens.

Video Transcription

A transcription in case you are more of a reader than a listener

Hey there! I’m Cath Hak from Sex Ever, and I wanted to share a cool book with you called Doing It: Let’s Talk About Sex by Hannah Witton. She’s a popular UK vlogger on YouTube who’s become a trusted source for young people seeking information about sex and relationships.

Now, I’m not sure if the book has been updated since this transcript is from 2017, but it covers a wide range of topics that are super important. We’re talking about sexting, virginity, masturbation, consent (which is a big deal these days), porn, body image, STIs, contraception, and more. It’s packed with loads of valuable information.

Hannah recommends the book for ages 14 and up, but keep in mind that it’s best suited for mature 14-year-olds. It does go into some detail, so you’ll want to make sure your kid is ready for it. But even if they’re not quite there yet, it won’t harm them to have it on hand. They can always come back to it when they’re ready.

One thing I really liked about the book is the chapter on porn. It provides great insights on how to masturbate and talks about consent. Hannah even brings in guest experts to share their thoughts, so it’s not just her perspective. Plus, there are some really interesting stories woven throughout.

I enjoyed reading it so much that I’ve already preordered the next book in the series. As my own kids are growing up, I’m becoming more and more interested in finding good books about sex for them. I want them to have reliable information rather than relying on the internet, which can lead to stumbling upon inappropriate content.

So, if you’re looking for a solid resource on sex and relationships, Doing It: Let’s Talk About Sex is definitely worth considering. Alright, I better wrap up before my dog causes any more chaos. Take care and have a great day!

Cheers!
