Hey there! So, I came across this awesome new book by Jayneen Sanders that I think you’ll love. It’s all about how we’re similar in many ways, but also how we’re different. And let me tell you, teaching kids about these differences is super important.

You see, when we teach our little ones that it’s okay for someone to have different colored skin, hair, or eyes, we’re actually teaching them acceptance. And that’s a powerful message to instill in them. It helps them be more accepting of their own unique qualities too.

The book also touches on the fact that different families do things differently. And you know what? That’s totally normal! Sometimes kids can feel a bit upset when they realize they’re different from others. They might even start questioning themselves, wondering if something’s wrong with them. But this book helps address those concerns and lays down some solid foundations.

Now, let’s talk about what this book covers. Jayneen Sanders does an amazing job of teaching children about gender equality. Boys and girls are equal, plain and simple. It’s also important to learn about respectful relationships, understanding that no means no. And hey, feelings are a big part of life, right? This book helps kids understand their emotions, communicate better, and stay safe.

Choice is another important topic. Kids need to know that they can make decisions for themselves. And let’s not forget about self-esteem! Liking yourself is key. Empathy is covered too, so kids can learn to care for others and be there for them when they’re feeling down. Tolerance is also emphasized, teaching kids to accept different religions and cultures. It’s all about acceptance, my friend.

Now, let me quickly show you some pages before the sun moves and I can’t show you anything. The book talks about how my sister and I are different in many little ways. And on every page, there’s a question you can ask your little ones to engage them in the discussion.

For example, Ben has short hair, while I have long, straight hair. We have different hobbies too. I like playing soccer, but Ben doesn’t. And when it’s raining, we both enjoy doing different things. The book goes through lots of examples like these to help kids understand and process the concept of differences.

I’ll be honest, some parts of the book might seem a bit repetitive to us adults. But when I read it to my seven-year-old son, he absolutely loved it! He thought it was a great book that made him feel okay about being different. And you know what? That’s what matters most.

Towards the end, the book also touches on the differences between boys and girls, which I think is really important. And as always, there are discussion pages included, which I find really helpful.

So, if you’re looking for a book that tackles diversity and differences in a fun and engaging way, this is definitely a great place to start. I hope this review helps you out. Cheers!
