Hey there! So, I’ve got this awesome new book to tell you about. It’s called The Period Book: A Girl’s Guide to Growing Up by Karen Gravelle. This is the 2017 edition, and let me tell you, it’s pretty great!

This book covers all the stuff that girls want to know about puberty and growing up. It’s got loads of helpful information about periods because, let’s face it, they’re a big change. I mean, imagine going about your daily life and then suddenly having blood coming out of your vagina every month. It can be a bit overwhelming, right? But don’t worry, this book has got your back.

It’s not just about the physical changes, though. It also dives into the emotional and psychological aspects of puberty. It talks about things you can see and things you can’t see. It covers periods, what to wear, bras, and all that jazz. It answers questions like what’s normal and what things might bother girls. For example, my daughter recently mentioned that she doesn’t want to have hairy armpits like me. She wants to keep them hairless because that’s what she’s used to. It’s all about those little worries and fears that girls have when their bodies start changing.

But here’s the best part: this book normalizes everything. It talks about braces, body shapes, relationships, and even same-sex relationships. It’s written from the perspective of girls liking boys, but it does acknowledge that some girls are interested in other girls, and that’s totally okay. It also touches on the online world and pornography, because let’s face it, kids today have access to a lot more than we did when we were growing up.

Now, my daughter isn’t quite ready for this book yet. She’s almost twelve and not too interested in all this stuff just yet. But if you have a curious eleven or twelve-year-old girl who wants to learn about periods and puberty, this book is perfect for her. And the best part? It’s affordable! I paid around 15 Australian dollars, which is about ten or eleven American dollars. So it won’t break the bank.

The book is easy to read, not too thick, and it’s broken up into manageable sections. It’s not overwhelming at all. Trust me, it’s a great resource to have on hand.

I hope this review helps you out. Cheers!
