Boys Will Be Human by Justin Baldoni

Book Review

A short overview of this book

Boys Will Be Human by Justin Baldoni is a self-esteem-building guidebook that helps boys to embrace their feelings and fears instead of repressing them.

This is what the Publisher has to say…

From filmmaker, actor, and author Justin Baldoni comes a real-talk, self-esteem-building guidebook that helps boys ages 11 and up embrace their feelings and fears instead of repress them.

Highly designed and filled with activities, sidebars, and inspirational quotes, this book is the perfect social-emotional learning tool for parents and educators to jump-start conversations about masculinity with the boys in their lives.

WARNING: THIS MIGHT BE THE MOST HONEST BOOK YOU’VE EVER READ

Have you ever noticed that there are unwritten rules that tell boys how to act, think, and feel? Nobody knows where they came from, but one day—BAM!—you suddenly feel these invisible forces, pushing you to follow the rules of masculinity, even if they don’t make you happy.

This book isn’t about learning the rules of the boys’ club, it’s about UNLEARNING them. It’s a get-real guidebook that will show you how to be:

  • Brave enough to reveal who you really are
  • Smart enough to ask questions
  • Cool enough to feel all your emotions
  • Confident enough to know your worth
  • Strong enough to speak your truth
  • and much, much more.

Be prepared: This book is raw and surprising. There is no subject off-limits or lies detected. Sometimes things might get a little uncomfortable, but that’s an important part of getting to know—and believe in—yourself.

Don’t worry, you’re not on this journey alone, so let’s jump in together to become the smartest, bravest, strongest HUMANS we can be!

Hey there, I’m Cath Hak and welcome to Sex Ed Rescue!

Sex Ed Rescue is all about helping parents have those sometimes tricky conversations with their kids. And guess what? Books can make your life as a parent so much easier when it comes to sex education.

Today, I want to talk about a book called Boys Will Be Human by Justin Baldoni. It’s a fantastic guide for boys on growing up and becoming the best version of themselves.

Now, this book isn’t just about love, sex, and relationships. It covers a lot more ground. It dives into topics like puberty and sex, but it’s really about personal growth and becoming the person you want to be.

One thing I really love about this book is that it addresses some common concerns that boys have. You know, questions like, When will my penis grow? or Why is mine smaller than others? These worries often stem from kids seeing unrealistic portrayals of sex in porn. But let me tell you, size doesn’t define your worth or your ability to have a fulfilling sex life. This book does a great job of busting that myth and showing that sex is about so much more than appearance.

Now, this book is all text, no fancy illustrations or images. But don’t worry, it’s packed with valuable information. It even includes these cool gut check moments where you can reflect on important topics and read relatable stories.

As our kids grow up, it’s crucial to equip them with the knowledge and mindset to become better humans. And that’s exactly what this book does. It helps them navigate the challenges of adolescence and think about who they want to be as individuals.

I hope you found some of what I shared helpful. Personally, I think this book is a must-read for all boys out there. It’s a great resource to support their journey into manhood.

Cheers!
