TEMPUS Period Tracker App (perfect for tweens & teens)

APP Review

A short overview of this book

TEMPUS is a period tracker and educational app that has been specially designed for tweens and teens.

This isn’t my app, but I have been involved in shaping the development of it, and have written all the educational content that is found inside it. So it’s an app that I am happy to have my name associated with and to recommend to parents. And what I especially like about this period tracking app for tweens and teens, is that it is truly safe for children to use, with no fear of them being exposed to inaccurate or wrong information.

This period tracking app is:

  • Private & Secure ie all health data and in-app content are stored locally and in your control
  • Anonymous ie no personal identifiers are required to use the app
  • 100% Offline ie no internet connection is required to track or view content
  • Family Friendly ie it supports multiple users on a single device
  • Gender Inclusive ie Tempus uses a gender-inclusive design and language options in the app and content
  • Safe and reliable content packs ie the in app content packs answer 100’s of questions that teens may ask about periods, pads, tampons and more (plus they are written by me!)
  • Age appropriate ie Tempus is not a fertility or pregnancy tracking app and it contains only age suitable options
  • 30 Day Free trial period ie no in-app advertising or ongoing subscriptions

Hey there! I’m Cath Hakanson, and I’m really excited to introduce you to the Tempus Period Tracking app. Now, I know it’s a bit tricky to review an app without a screen share, but I’ll do my best to walk you through it using the app store listing. So here’s the story behind this app: it’s not mine, but I’ve actually written all the educational content for it. I’ve been working closely with Darren, the app owner, since the early days. As a sex educator and a parent, I had a lot of input in creating an app that meets the needs of both educators and parents.

The idea for the Tempus app came about when Darren’s eldest daughter got her first period. His wife told him to find an app that would work for her, but he was disappointed with what he found. Some apps had inappropriate information and directed users to YouTube for answers. Others had adult chats and questionable ethics. Plus, some apps were expensive and sold user data. So Darren decided to create an app that addressed all these concerns.

Now, since I can’t do a screen share, let me tell you about the app features. First and foremost, the app is safe and age-appropriate. It’s designed for tweens and young teens, with content written in a straightforward and positive manner. We’ve made sure to exclude any explicit sexual content, but we do have plans to include a pack about reproduction and how babies are made. And don’t worry, parents have control over which content packs their child can access.

The design of the app is gender-inclusive, avoiding gender stereotypes. We didn’t want to make it all pink and girly. Instead, we focused on creating a safe and inclusive space for everyone. And speaking of safety, there’s no online chat or external links in the app. Everything is contained within the app itself, so you can rest assured that your child is in a secure environment. Plus, there are no ads, and we don’t sell user data.

One of the best things about this app is that it eliminates surprises. We understand that periods can be irregular, especially when someone first starts menstruating. So the app doesn’t predict future periods until the user has had a few regular cycles. This way, your child can track their body’s changes and become more aware of their menstrual cycle.

Another great feature is the calendar function. You can input important events like school camps or swim meets, and the app will notify you if your period is due around that time. This way, you can be prepared and have the necessary period products on hand.

The app also helps your child learn about their body. By tracking their period and other associated symptoms, they can become more informed and empowered. For example, they might notice lower back pain a few days before their period starts, which can be a helpful indicator.

Now, let’s talk about privacy. We take privacy very seriously. Your data is only stored on your device, and we don’t have access to it. We’ve gone the extra mile to ensure that your information remains private. However, this means that if you switch to a new phone without transferring the data, it will be lost. But hey, it’s a small price to pay for keeping your content private, right?

The app also offers expert advice, which I’ve personally written. We’ve included photos and videos to make the information more engaging and relatable. And for those with blood phobias, we’ve even created blue blood visuals to make the experience more comfortable.

Lastly, the app is family-friendly. You only need to purchase it once, and other family members can use it too. We also have family sharing options for additional content packs, which are super affordable right now. As we gain more downloads and reviews, the price will gradually increase, but we’ll also be adding more valuable content.

We’re constantly working on improving the app based on feedback from parents like you. So if you download the app and feel that something is missing or have any suggestions, please reach out to us. We want to make this the best period tracking app for tweens and teens, and your input is invaluable.

I hope you find the Tempus Period Tracking app super helpful for your child. It’s a project I’m really proud to be a part of, and I can’t wait to see it grow. Thanks for taking the time to learn about it, and feel free to message me if you have any questions. Cheers!
