Hey there! I’m Cath Hak, and welcome to Sex Ed Rescue. On my YouTube channel and website, I review a bunch of books on sex education and preventing sexual abuse. Today, I want to talk about a book called Those Are MY Private Parts by Diane Hansen. It’s a great tool to start conversations with your child about staying safe.

Now, this book has been around for a while, but let me walk you through it. Those Are MY Private Parts is all about teaching kids that their private parts are, well, private! It’s got some helpful info for parents in the beginning and end, so you’re covered there.

The book explains the difference between boys and girls and their private parts. It’s important to know that there’s no game involving private parts. It’s just not right or okay. Whether it’s an uncle, nephew, niece, or dad, we say no and get mad if anyone tries to play a touching game.

The book emphasizes that our bodies belong to us and no one else. From our head to our toes, it’s our choice who can touch our private parts. It doesn’t matter if it’s a kid next door or someone down the street. We have the power to say no.

Now, the book also talks about bathroom words like potty, poop, and pee. It reminds us that we’re big and can take care of ourselves. But if we ever need help with those things, we can ask for it. It’s all about owning our bodies and knowing that we have control.

Remember, no book is perfect, and this one may not resonate with every child. That’s why it’s great to have a variety of books on this topic. You can read this one once a week, return it to the library, and borrow it again later. By having different conversations, we can help kids understand that their private parts are just thatโ€”private and not for sharing.

I hope this review helps you out. Cheers!
