Hey there! I’m Cath Hak, or Cath Hakanson from Sex Ed Rescue. I wanted to chat with you about a fantastic book called What’s Happening to My Body? A Book for Girls by Lynda Madaras. Now, I might not be pronouncing her name right, but bear with me!

So, this book hasn’t been updated in a while, but trust me, the content is still super relevant. There’s a version for girls, and I think I have another simpler version somewhere… Ah, I can’t seem to find it right now, but no worries, there are other versions out there. The thinner one has cool activities like tick boxes and crossings, but the one I’m talking about is more detailed. It’s packed with loads of information and awesome drawings.

Basically, it’s a book about puberty for girls, but it also covers some stuff about boys. It talks about what puberty is, the changes happening in your body, and yes, it even touches on sexual intercourse, masturbation, and all that good stuff. It gives you the lowdown on breasts, pubic hair, growing taller, body hair, and even dives into the menstrual cycle and how babies are made. Plus, it discusses romantic and sexual feelings, which I think is pretty important.

Now, this book first came out in 1983 and got an update in 2007. It’s been a decade since then, and I couldn’t find a website for the author, so I’m not sure if it’ll be updated again. But hey, for a puberty book, it’s still pretty awesome. Sure, it doesn’t cover the latest on sexting and porn, but remember, this is more about puberty than a full-on sex education manual. And for that purpose, it’s really great. The content in here is just what curious kids need. I borrowed this little copy from the library, but I’m definitely going to order one for myself because I think it’s fantastic.

Oh, and the drawings inside are just lovely! I hope you can see them well. Now, there are tons of puberty books out there, more than you can shake a stick at. It all comes down to your personal taste and what you’re looking for. This book covers everything from pubic hair to feelings about it, and it’s got all the info you need. So, I hope this helps you out. Have a fantastic day!

Cheers!
