Hey there! Welcome to Sex Ed Rescue, where I’m here to help parents find an easier way to talk to their kids about sex education. Today, I want to review a fantastic book for young children about feelings. It’s by Usborne, and I’m pretty sure Felicity Brooks is the author of the whole series. This book is all about helping kids understand their emotions, which is an important part of sex education. By recognizing and managing their feelings from a young age, they’ll be better equipped as they grow older and start experiencing romantic emotions too.

I absolutely love the diversity in this book. It’s great to see a child in a wheelchair and characters with different skin tones. However, I do hope to see more diversity in terms of body shapes and sizes in the future. But let’s focus on what this book offers. It’s filled with lots of little examples and stories about feelings, and there are plenty of engaging pictures for children to explore. I remember when my own kids were younger, they loved books like these because there was so much to look at on each page.

One important aspect this book covers is body language. It teaches children to listen to their gut instinct, which is crucial for preventing sexual abuse. For example, if they’re in the bathtub and someone makes them feel uncomfortable, it’s important for them to trust that feeling and speak up. Our gut instincts are often right, though not always. So it’s important to encourage children to listen to their inner voice.

The book also includes notes at the back, which is a nice touch. Instead of having a dozen books on feelings, this one covers it all. It’s a comprehensive resource that can help parents have important conversations with their kids. So, if you’re looking for a book that explores emotions in a fun and inclusive way, I highly recommend giving this one a try.

I hope you found this review helpful. Cheers!
