Hey there! It’s Cath Hak from Sex Ed Rescue, and I wanted to tell you about these two awesome little books I found a few years back. They’re self-published and available on Amazon by a guy named Christian Young Miller. The books are called Everyday Body Masturbates and there’s one for boys and one for girls.

Now, these books may be small, around 45 pages, but they’re packed with helpful diagrams and words. They tackle the topic of masturbation head-on because, let’s face it, there are a lot of myths and misconceptions out there.

In some cultures and religions, masturbation is considered taboo, and there are all sorts of crazy myths surrounding it. For example, have you heard the one about growing hair on your hands if you masturbate too much? Yeah, it’s a total myth! And get this, Kellogg’s Cornflakes Breakfast cereal was actually created as an anti-masturbation cereal. Can you believe it? But thankfully, we’ve come a long way since then.

The modern stance on masturbation is that it’s natural and a normal part of our bodies. If you want to explore and touch yourself, that’s totally okay. There aren’t any hard and fast rules, but there is some expected behavior and etiquette that comes with it. And that’s where these books come in handy. They provide a safe space to talk about a topic that’s often considered taboo.

The books cover what masturbation is, why it feels good, and who does it. Spoiler alert: everyone does it! Well, okay, some people may choose not to, and some may do it more than others. But the point is, it’s a normal thing. The books also touch on where it’s appropriate to engage in self-pleasure (hint: not at the kitchen table or in public places), and they emphasize the importance of hygiene, like washing your hands afterward. Trust me, those little hands can get smelly!

Overall, these books do a fantastic job of normalizing masturbation and addressing any fears or taboos associated with it. They’re written in a sensitive and caring way, making them a great tool to open up a conversation about this topic.

Oh, and here’s a personal anecdote for you: my eleven-year-old stumbled upon one of these books the other day and decided to give it a read. She found it quite interesting and actually liked it. So, I think it’s safe to say that these books are suitable for children around the ages of seven or eight and up.

If you have a child who’s struggling to understand that masturbation is something done in private, these books can be a valuable resource. You can read them together and use them as a starting point for a conversation. It’s all about teaching them that while it’s a normal part of life, there’s also a time and place for it.

I hope this review helps you out! I’m really glad I stumbled upon these books, and I think you’ll find them helpful too. Cheers!
