Families Belong by Dan Saks

Book Review

A short overview of this book

Families Belong by Dan Saks is an inclusive board book for younger children that celebrates the different things that a family may do together. You will find diversity in these families as they depict many different types of families eg single parents, two dads, etc.

I absolutely love this series of books by Dan Sak and think that all parents should consider having them on their bookshelves.

Hey there! Welcome to Sex Ed Rescue with Cath Hak. I’m here to help parents find a better way to talk to their kids about sex. Today, I want to review a super cool board book called Families Belong by Dan Saks. But before we dive in, let me apologize for the bad lighting and my dog going crazy in the background. School kids passing by always get her excited!

Now, let’s talk about this awesome board book. Board books are fantastic because they allow us to have conversations with little ones without worrying about them destroying the book. Dan Saks, the author, has another book about families, which focuses on the different people that make up a family. But Families Belong is all about the different things that families can do together. It’s a great way to expand the conversation and embrace diversity.

This book is not just about the traditional mom, dad, and happy family. It celebrates all kinds of families with different backgrounds and makeups. It shows that families are like puzzles, with different-sized people fitting together perfectly. Some families love to sing and do things together, while others bond over food. And when something goes wrong, like dropping food, they all come together to help each other out.

Some families enjoy relaxing and just being together, while others are always on the go, doing lots of activities. But no matter what, families care for each other when no one else is around. Even if you’re in a different place, surrounded by unfamiliar faces, your family is always there for you. They laugh, cry, and belong together.

This book is a simple and beautiful way to talk to kids about families, how they can be different, and why they work. If my kids were little, I would definitely buy them these board books. They make fantastic gifts for friends and family members who are having babies too. Let’s raise our kids to be accepting, inclusive, and kind, making the world a better place.

If you have any questions, feel free to ask. I hope you find this book helpful. Cheers!
