Hey there! Welcome to Sex Ed Rescue with Cath Hak. Today, I want to talk about a fantastic board book called Families Grow by Dan Saks. This book is all about helping parents have those important conversations with their kids about how families come together and grow.

Now, before we dive in, I apologize for the lighting in this video. I’m in the process of relocating my workspace, so bear with me on that. But I wanted to make sure I shared this book with you because it’s in high demand at the library!

Families Grow is part of a series of books, and I’m excited to see what other topics they cover in the future. But for now, let’s focus on this gem. It’s a book that explains how families grow, without going into explicit details about sex. Instead, it focuses on where babies come from and how they develop.

What I love about this book is how inclusive and natural it feels. It acknowledges that families can be created in different ways, whether through pregnancy, surrogacy, adoption, or foster care. It’s a beautiful way to teach children that families can be formed in various ways, and that love is what truly matters.

The book also touches on the fact that sometimes the journey to becoming a family can take longer or have different stops along the way. It explores the idea of babies being in hospitals, going through foster care, or being adopted. It’s a gentle way to introduce these concepts and show that love and patience are at the core of every family.

I was thrilled to see diversity represented in the book too, with two moms being featured. It’s important for children to see themselves and their families reflected in the stories they read.

The book ends with a heartwarming message about how the family has grown with love and how the child is a cherished addition to the family. It’s a beautiful way to celebrate a child’s journey into their family.

I can’t recommend this book enough. It’s a wonderful gift to give to a new baby in your life, a perfect welcome to the world present. I’m actually planning on getting copies for my own family and friends because it’s just that special.

Alright, before my dog starts barking up a storm and causes chaos, I’m going to wrap this up. I hope you enjoyed learning about Families Grow and how it can help you have those important conversations with your kids. Cheers!
