Hey there! Welcome to Sex Ed Rescue with Cath Hak. Today, I want to talk about a fantastic book for young children called Family: All That You Dream It to Be by Byle and Beth Stephen. This book is all about helping parents have those important conversations with their kids about families. And let me tell you, books make sex ed so much easier!

Now, I have to admit, my own kids are a bit older, so I haven’t watched the show Tiny Stevies, but apparently, it’s a super popular kids’ show with lots of singing. And now they’ve turned it into a collection of books too! How cool is that?

So, let’s dive into this book. It starts off with a story about a kid hopping on a bike and going on an adventure with their mom. They ride along the street and meet different people. And let me tell you, the illustrations are so Australian! You’ll see houses that look just like the ones here in Australia. And hey, there are even Australian birds! But don’t worry, we don’t have kangaroos hopping down the street unless it’s a really tough time with no food. Then they might come looking for some grass.

The book celebrates all kinds of families. There’s a family with a mom, a dad, and a couple of kids. And there’s another family with two moms. Oh, and there’s a kid who only sees their dad on Sundays. It’s great to see the different makeups of families and the things they do together. There’s even a family with no children, but they’ve opened their hearts and home to foster children. Isn’t that amazing?

Now, I want to be upfront with you. This book doesn’t include polyamorous families. So if you have a polyamorous family, you won’t find it depicted here. But hey, this book is all about celebrating the different types of families that exist, and it does a fantastic job at that.

As the story unfolds, the characters finish their ride and go home to do all the things families do. The book emphasizes the importance of love within families, which is such a beautiful message.

So, all in all, this book is a wonderful choice for younger children who want to learn about families. It’s inclusive, heartwarming, and a great tool for parents to start those important conversations.

Alright, that’s it for today. Take care and see you next time! Bye!
