Hey there, it’s Cath Hak from Sex Ed Rescue! I wanted to chat with you about this awesome book that’s perfect for older teenagers. It’s called For Fox’s Sake: Everything a Fox Needs To Know About Sex and it’s written by Row Murray, an Australian journalist who covers a wide range of topics. Now, Row may not be a sexologist or a sex educator, but she knows how to do her research and has spoken to people in the know.

This book is all about giving teenagers the information they need but might be too shy to ask about. It’s a big book, packed with loads of valuable insights. It’s kind of like a novel, with a bunch of recommended books and resources at the back. Row has divided it into sections to cover different topics. She starts off by talking about your fabulous brain, self-esteem, and being positive about sex. She also dives into important subjects like consent, porn, drugs, drinking, lust, and being safe online.

Then she moves on to gender and sexual orientation, discussing being gay and all that good stuff. Of course, she covers the nitty-gritty too, like the ins and outs of genitals. She takes you on a guided tour, talking about PAP smears, periods, and common issues down there, such as UTIs and STIs. She also covers general body topics like breasts, personal hygiene, body hair, and getting tested for STIs. And let’s not forget the pleasure part! Row provides a guide to sex for older teenagers, explaining what an orgasm is, how to have one, and debunking myths while giving you the facts you need to know as a young adult.

She doesn’t shy away from the different aspects of sex either. She talks about precom, oral sex, virginity, trying new things, and what to expect with gay sex, anal sex, and even fisting. Now, this isn’t a book for younger teens. It’s more suitable for mature 16 or 17-year-olds. The great thing about books like this is that they satisfy kids’ curiosity. Back in the day, we used to look things up in books, but now kids turn to the internet. The problem is, searching for certain topics online can lead to stumbling upon explicit content that might give them the wrong impression about sex.

That’s why having a resource like this book is so important. It provides accurate information without the graphic visuals. It emphasizes that sex is not just physical, but also about emotional connection and having a healthy relationship with someone you care about. Row even touches on heartbreak, dealing with peer pressure, different types of relationships, and when to break up or not. She provides helpful resources too.

I really love the casual, big sister, little sister vibe of this book. It’s not patronizing at all. It’s written in a fun and engaging way, making it easy to read and understand. The content list at the beginning is super handy, making it a breeze to find what you’re looking for. Plus, it’s up-to-date, written in 2015, so it covers all the recent stuff like porn and the risks of sending intimate photos online.

Overall, For Fox’s Sake is a fantastic book for older teenagers. The title itself is a clever play on words. I hope this review helps you out. Cheers!
