Hey there! So, I wanted to tell you about these awesome cards called Girltopia by Jane Bennett. She’s this amazing woman from the Eastern States of Australia who runs workshops called Celebration Day for Girls. These workshops are all about turning menstruation and growing into a woman into something positive. How cool is that?

Now, these cards are pretty special. When you open the pack, you’ll notice it’s quite heavy, and it even comes with a little book. They were created by Innovative Resources, and let me tell you, they have some incredible resources on their website for starting conversations. The little book that comes with the cards has beautiful illustrations and pictures, along with ideas on how to use the cards effectively.

The cards are divided into different packs. We’ve got the Me cards, which ask questions like when you were born and who was there with you. Then there are cards about what’s important to you, like friends, hope, family, and the environment. These are all things that shape who you are, especially as you’re heading into your sexuality. It’s important to think about your values and beliefs, and even what behavior is okay or not okay in your family when it comes to sex.

Next up, we have the doing cards. These cards explore things you might be good at, like making, imagining, eating, thinking, planning, learning, and giving. They’re all about your skills and abilities.

Then we have the feeling cards. These cards help you express your emotions. Sometimes you might feel proud, brave, angry, or even like you’re about to explode. They ask questions like who you’re talking to and what it feels like. It’s a great way to explore your feelings and understand yourself better.

Now, let’s talk about the body cards. These cards dive into puberty and all the changes that come with it. They cover topics like hormones, periods, pads and tampons, breasts, vagina, vulva, womb, ovaries, clitoris, fertility, pregnancy, and health. It’s a lot, I know, but it’s all important stuff that you can discuss with your daughter.

The cards also touch on dating, sexual health, relationships, sexual attraction, diversity, difficult conversations, bullying, gossip, expectations, friends, love, and even breaking up. They cover a whole range of issues that teenagers go through as they grow up.

So, that’s a quick tour of Jane’s cards. I hope I did them justice! If you want to learn more about how to use them as a parent or clinician, head over to Jane’s website. I’ll include the links for you. These cards are a fantastic resource, especially if you have a young girl going through that age. Take care and I hope this helps! Cheers!
