A short overview of this book

Lizzy’s Triumph Over Cyber-bullying! Cyber safety can be fun by Nina Du Thaler is a book for older children about cybersafety. This book is one of many in a series of short novels from Bright Zebra, with each book focusing on a different aspect of cybersafety. You can find the rest of these books by Nina Du Thaler here.

This book focuses on cyberbullying and will help children to identify cyberbullying, how to manage it when it does happen, and understand how to stay safe online.

In this book, Elle’s best friend Lizzy is acting strangely. Elle is concerned but can’t get Lizzy to share what is going on. When she works out a way to help Lizzy share her problem, she finds out that her best friend is being cyber-bullied. Will being connected in the online world be a total disaster or will Elle be able to help Lizzy and learn from her experiences?

These are a great resource for children who need to learn about staying safe online but find picture books too babyish. They are perfect for reading together and discussing your family rules for online safety.

Hey there! Welcome to Sex Ed Rescue with Cath Hak. I’m all about helping you have those important conversations with your kids about sex, relationships, growing up, and staying safe. You can find lots of helpful resources on my website, sexedrescue.com.

Today, I want to talk about a series of awesome books by Nina Du Thaler called Lizzy’s Triumph Over Cyber-bullying! Cyber safety can be fun. These books are not only informative, but they’re also super colorful, which I love! I might not have the best fashion sense according to my kids, but I definitely appreciate a splash of color.

Now, these books are chapter books with lots of lines, perfect for kids who think picture books are a bit too babyish. When it comes to cyber safety, it’s important to have conversations that are relevant to your child’s age. You don’t want to overwhelm an eight-year-old with detailed discussions about contraception, right? It’s all about timing and relevance. As your kids grow older, their interests and needs change, so ongoing conversations about staying safe online are crucial.

Let’s dive into the story of Lizzie and her friends. Lizzie is going through a tough time because she’s being cyberbullied. She’s withdrawn, unhappy, and something just doesn’t seem right to her friend, L. Eventually, L finds out that someone has hacked into Lizzie’s account and is sending mean messages to people, targeting her online. It’s a tough situation, but L is there to help her out.

What I really love about this book is that it provides a list of practical things to do when faced with cyberbullying. It’s all about empowering your child to take action. The book suggests telling someone you trust, not responding to the bullying messages, saving them as evidence, and getting help from a trusted person. It also encourages blocking unwanted contacts, logging out, and setting up new accounts with the help of someone you trust. Plus, it guides you on reporting the bully to the administrator or video host. These tips are not only helpful for your child but also give you ideas as a parent on how to support them.

As you read this book with your child or they read it on their own, it opens up opportunities for conversations about what can happen in these situations. Let’s face it, cyberbullying is unfortunately something that many kids will encounter at some point. Even as adults, we can face cyberbullying too. That’s why it’s crucial for us to be there for our kids, to protect and support them when it happens.

I’m really glad this topic was addressed in these books because it’s so relevant. They provide great resources to help you have those important conversations about cyberbullying. Remember, you’re not alone in this. We’re here to help our kids navigate through these challenges and come out stronger.

I hope this review has been helpful. Take care and keep those conversations going!
