Hey there! Welcome to Sex Ed Rescue, I’m Cath Hak, your friendly sex educator. On my YouTube channel and website, I review a bunch of books and chat about sex education. If you’re looking for resources to help you talk to your kids about sex in a better, easier, and more natural way, head over to Sexedrescue.com.

Today, I want to talk about a book called My Feelings and Me by Dagmar Geisler. Now, there are tons of books out there covering different topics like where babies come from, puberty, staying safe, and even getting along with siblings. This particular book caught my attention because it has a slightly different approach, being from a European author. Plus, it’s been translated into English, which is awesome!

My Feelings and Me focuses on helping kids understand and manage their emotions. It emphasizes that as parents, it’s our job to guide them in this process. By teaching them to recognize their feelings, we can empower them to handle them better, making life easier for the whole family. This book explores a wide range of emotions, encouraging kids to not only know their feelings but also express them.

For example, it mentions that when they’re happy, they can laugh and shout with glee. And when they’re angry, they might feel cranky and want to scream and roar. It goes through various emotions like love, sadness, fear, and jealousy, explaining how each one can manifest. Sometimes, feelings can become overwhelming, but the book reminds kids that it’s okay to ask for help and seek comfort from others.

What I really appreciate about this book is that it doesn’t just focus on their own feelings. It also helps kids understand the emotions of others. It teaches them to be compassionate and recognize when someone needs comfort or when they should step in if someone is angry. It even acknowledges that it’s okay to keep some feelings private if they don’t want to show them.

Overall, I highly recommend My Feelings and Me and similar books that tackle the topic of emotions. When my own kids were younger, I had a whole collection of books about feelings. We would read one together at least once a week, alternating between their choice and mine. It was a great way to incorporate emotional intelligence and life lessons into our reading time.

If you’re interested, you can find these books at your local library. Most libraries have a fantastic selection. Remember, it’s all about finding the right book that resonates with your child. So keep exploring until you find the perfect fit.

I hope this review helps you on your journey of talking to your kids about feelings. If you have any questions, feel free to reach out. Cheers!
