No Matter What by Debi Gliori

Book Review

A short overview of this book

No Matter What by Debi Gliori is a great book for talking to kids about love. It reassures them that no matter what they do, that you’ll always love them. And that love from a parent is unconditional.

Apparently there are two endings – one about death and one about when someone goes away. So you might have to check that you find the right version for you.

Hey there! I’m Cath Hak, and welcome to Sex Ed Rescue. This is my YouTube channel where I review a bunch of books that make sex education easier. It’s also my website, where you can find all the resources you need for sex education and understanding your feelings. Books are super important, which is why I’m starting to include them in my reviews. Today, I want to talk about a book called No Matter What by Debi Gliori.

First things first, this book is tiny. I ordered it online and when it arrived, I was like, whoa, it’s so small! Lesson learned: always check the size before you buy. Don’t just go for the cheapest option. Anyway, this book is all about love. It helps kids understand that love is a feeling, a relationship, and a connection you can have with someone.

As parents, we want our kids to know that we love them, no matter what. This story is a sweet little reminder of that. It’s important for kids to understand love because as they grow older, they start wondering about the different kinds of love they feel. Like, what’s the difference between the love they have for their parents, siblings, or even their teacher? And what if they start having feelings for someone special?

The book tells the story of Small, who was feeling really grumpy. But Large, being the awesome friend that they are, reassures Small that they will always love them, no matter what. They go through different scenarios, like being grumpy or turning into a squishy blood bug (yep, it gets interesting!). The book helps kids understand that love is constant, even in different situations.

Now, here’s the cool part: there are two versions of this book. In one version, it says that even if someone dies, their love still remains. In the other version, it talks about love even if someone is far away. So, you might come across different versions, but the message of love is the same.

Books like this are so helpful because they teach kids that their actions don’t define who they are. If they make a mistake or do something mean, it doesn’t mean they’re a bad person. It just means they made a bad choice. We want kids to know that they are not their actions. This is especially important as they grow older and start forming their self-esteem and self-image.

So, No Matter What is a fantastic book for talking to kids about love and helping them understand that they are always loved, no matter what. It’s crucial for their emotional and healthy development as they grow up. I hope this review helps you out. Cheers!
