Sexual Decisions book by L. Kris Gowen

Book Review

A short overview of this book

Sexual Decisions: The Ultimate Teen Guide by L. Kris Gowen is a comprehensive sex education book for teenagers that will empower them with the right information about love, sex and relationships.

This book is a textbook on absolutely everything a teen needs to know about love, sex and relationships. It looks like a textbook but is written in a casual, easy-going style, and covers a wide range of topics that are very relevant for today’s teen. An essential book for every teen who is starting to think about having a sexual relationship.

It’s an expensive book but I really did like it.

Hey there! I’m Cath Hak from Sex Ed Rescue, and I apologize for the glare.

So, I came across this awesome book called Sexual Decisions: It Happened to Me. It’s like the ultimate guide for teens. Now, I know it came out in 2017, but trust me, it’s worth a read. I borrowed it from the library because it’s not exactly cheap to buy.

This book is part of a series called It Happened to Me, which covers a wide range of topics like epilepsy, cultural diversity, diabetes medications, body image, and more. And of course, it includes a book on sex education. It covers important stuff like sexual assaults, body image, and more. However, I doubt it covers pornography.

Let me tell you, this book is like a textbook you’d find in school or university. I took it with me to my kids’ swimming practice and started going through it. I was actually quite impressed, which is why I wanted to share it with you.

Here are some of the topics it covers: body basics, anatomy, sexual orientation and gender, choosing not to have sex (abstinence and safety), STIs, contraception, relationships, communication with your partner, dating, sexual violence, analyzing influences, and even sex and relationships online, including sexting. Plus, there are other interesting topics as well.

What I really love about this book is that it references well-known media stories and includes simple, lovely drawings of the anatomy. It also provides some interesting historical information and suggests where to find more resources. Oh, and there’s even a movie review section! It recommends movies or TV series that you can watch with your child to start important conversations. Isn’t that great?

Now, as a parent, I think this book is not only a great resource for your teenager, but also for yourself. It’s like a refresher on sex education, but written in a casual and easy-to-understand language. Sure, there are some specific terms like spermicide, but hey, we need to use the right words to talk about these things, right? Most teenagers will feel comfortable with the way it’s written.

I have to admit, I buy way too many books, but I actually added this one to my wish list because I think it’s really valuable. I appreciate the movie and music references too.

I hope this review helps you out. If you’re looking to invest in a book that covers a wide range of important topics, this is definitely the one to grab. Alright, I’ll leave you to it. Cheers!
