Hey there! Let’s dive into this awesome book called The Baby Tree by Sophie Blackall. It’s a really nice read, especially if you have a younger kiddo who’s curious about where babies come from but isn’t quite ready for all the nitty-gritty details. The best part? It’s a safe book that doesn’t mention specific body parts like penises and vaginas.

What I love about The Baby Tree is that Sophie Blackall is a well-known and respected children’s author. She’s not a sex educator or a sexologist, but she knows how to tackle tricky topics in a way that’s relatable and informative. The fact that she’s a mainstream author means that more people are likely to pick up this book because they already recognize her name.

Inside the book, you’ll find beautiful illustrations and a heartwarming story. It was published back in 2014 by an Australian author (pretty sure she’s Australian, but don’t quote me on that!). The story follows a curious child who asks different people where babies come from. The answers range from a baby tree to a stork delivering bundles. It’s a fun journey until the child finally asks their mom and dad, and they explain the real deal.

Now, here’s something to keep in mind. The book does a great job of explaining how babies are made, but sometimes young kids can take things very literally. So, when they hear about seeds and eggs, they might actually try planting some seeds and eggs from the fridge, thinking a baby will grow. It’s just something to be aware of, but don’t worry, they’ll grow out of it as they get older.

At the end of the book, there’s a section that offers guidance on how to talk about the topic of baby-making. It’s always helpful to have some tips and suggestions, right?

Overall, The Baby Tree is a fantastic book to introduce the concept of how babies are made in a simple and easy-to-understand way. I personally love it so much that I’m getting my own copy, even though it’s a bit pricey in hardback. Unfortunately, I couldn’t find a paperback version, but the book is totally worth it.

So, if you’re looking for a gentle and approachable way to start the conversation about where babies come from, I highly recommend The Baby Tree. It’s a gem that I’ll be adding to my collection, and I’ll definitely be talking about it more in the coming years.

Hope this review helps!
