Book Review: The Bare Naked Book by Kathy Stinson is a lovely book for younger children about our bodies (including the private parts) and how different they can be.
A short overview of this book
The Bare Naked Book by Kathy Stinson is a fabulous book for younger children about bodies.
It celebrates how wonderful and different our bodies can be. And it includes the whole body, including penises, vaginas and bottoms. It even includes nipples!
I love the way this book dedicates a page or two to each body part, illustrating the variety in appearance or in what they can do. For example, with teeth, we have no teeth, lots of teeth, teeth with braces, and wiggly teeth. And including the genitals helps to remove any shame or unspoken messages about the private parts of the body.
This is a vintage book that was first published in 1986, and updated in 2006. But it is still hugely popular with parents today. And I can see why! It is a lovely book for starting everyday conversations about bodies. Conversations that will also include a giggle!
