Hey there! So, I’ve got these two awesome books to recommend to you: The Girls Body Book and The Boys Body Book by Kelli Dunham. These books are really great because they cover everything you need to know about puberty. And I mean everything – not just the physical changes, but also the social and emotional stuff too. They’re about 100 pages long, so they’re pretty comprehensive, but don’t worry, they’re not too heavy on the sex talk.

In terms of the sex stuff, they do touch on it a bit. They explain things like why girls have a uterus (it’s for growing babies) and how sperm is needed to combine with an egg. It’s all explained in a way that’s easy to understand. These books are perfect if you’re looking for an all-in-one resource that covers more than just puberty.

The layout of both books is fantastic. They’re visually appealing with cool diagrams and not too many overwhelming words. Now, I have to admit, these aren’t the kind of books you can read in one sitting, especially if you’re reading them with your kids. I find it helpful to read them out loud together and have discussions about the topics. It’s a great way to bond and make sure everyone understands.

The Boys book has a very similar layout to the Girls book. They’re almost identical, but they kept them separate. However, one thing I personally wish they included is a bit more information about the other gender. Boys should know about periods and understand what girls go through. It’s important for them to have some sensitivity and compassion. Imagine if a girl in their class has a period leak and instead of making fun of her, they kindly let her know. That’s the kind of stuff that can make a big difference in a girl’s life.

So, these books cover a lot. They talk about the changes happening during puberty, why they happen, and how to deal with them. They also touch on feelings, friendships, and getting along with parents. Plus, they provide links to some helpful websites where kids can find more information. Oh, and there’s even an index at the back, which is handy for parents too.

Overall, I highly recommend both of these books. They cover the broader aspects of puberty without diving into those trickier teenage issues right away. They’re a great starting point for conversations with your kids. I hope this helps you out! Cheers!
