Hey there! I’m Cath Hak, and welcome to Sex Ed Rescue. On my YouTube channel and website, Sex Ed Rescue, I review a ton of books that are super helpful for parents when it comes to talking to their kids about love, sex, relationships, and growing up. Today, I want to talk about an awesome book called The Every Body Book by Rachel Simon.

This book is a game-changer because it’s all about inclusivity. It’s an LGBTQ+ inclusive guide for kids that covers topics like sex, gender, bodies, and families. It’s so important to have books like this that include everyone. We don’t want to assume that just because someone has a certain body part, they identify as a specific gender or will marry a certain type of person. This book breaks down those assumptions and allows kids to explore their own identities and understand that there’s a whole lot of variety out there.

Inclusivity is crucial because it helps kids feel comfortable and accepted. We all know that being a minority can be tough, and we want to make sure our kids grow up being inclusive and kind. This book helps them understand that the world isn’t just black and white, but full of beautiful diversity. And trust me, kids are way smarter than we give them credit for. They can grasp these concepts and understand that not everyone fits into neat little boxes.

I’ve personally had conversations with my own kids about these topics from a young age, and they’ve been totally cool with it. We’ve talked about how they might grow up and like princes or princesses, or maybe even both or neither. By having these open conversations, we’re raising kids who are accepting and understanding of others, no matter how they identify.

Now, let’s talk about the book itself. The Every Body Book is a comprehensive guide, but it’s not your typical picture book. It’s more like a chapter-by-chapter read, with lots of words and information. So it’s better suited for slightly older children who can handle more text. But don’t worry, it covers all the important topics like love, attraction, different family types, and even sexting and porn. Yes, it’s important to address these things too, because let’s face it, kids are curious and they might stumble upon not-so-nice stuff online if we don’t guide them.

One thing I love about this book is its inclusivity when it comes to illustrations. It features diverse body shapes, different skin colors, and even includes representations of people in wheelchairs. It’s also trans-friendly and explains things like a trans man having a baby. The illustrations are great and really help bring the information to life.

The only downside? It’s a bit pricey. I had to shell out quite a bit of money to get my hands on a copy. But I’m hoping they’ll release a more affordable paperback version soon. I know firsthand how expensive book production can be, but I believe they can find a way to make it more accessible to all parents.

In conclusion, The Every Body Book is a fantastic resource for inclusive sex education. It’s one of the few books out there that covers a wide range of topics while being inclusive and accepting of all identities. I highly recommend it to parents who want to have open and honest conversations with their kids. And hey, if you’re on a budget, keep an eye out for a more affordable version in the future.

I hope this review helps you make an informed decision. Remember, inclusivity and acceptance are key when it comes to sex education. Let’s raise a generation of understanding and compassionate individuals.
