The Pregnant Body Book: The Complete Illustrated Guide from Conception to Birth

Book Review

A short overview of this book

The Pregnant Body Book: The Complete Illustrated Guide from Conception to Birth by the publishers DK, is a highly detailed book about conception, pregnancy and birth.

It’s a book that has been written for adults but is also suitable for children who are extremely curious about what actually happens during pregnancy and birth. My 8 and 12 year old loved it (as well as my pregnant 18 year old niece) and pored over the pages for hours.

It’s heavily filled with facts and lots of interesting information. It does talk about sexual intercourse.

Ideal Age

Ideal for children aged 8 to 14 years.

Hey there! I’m Cath Hak from Sex Ed Rescue, your go-to channel for all things puberty and growing up. Today, I want to talk about a fantastic book called The Pregnant Body Book by DK, a well-known publishing company.

Now, this book is not just for expectant parents and moms-to-be, it’s actually a great resource for children too. I’ve seen it recommended on several homeschooling websites, and let me tell you, it’s packed with some seriously cool stuff!

First off, let’s talk about the visuals. This book is jam-packed with loads of images that will blow your mind. It’s got life-size pictures of babies in the womb, which are absolutely beautiful. And if your child is into all the nitty-gritty details, they’ll find this book fascinating. It covers everything from conception to birth, with tons of factual information about what’s happening at each stage.

Inside, you’ll find detailed explanations about the male and female reproductive systems, along with some clinical information that might pique your child’s interest. It even has images of conception, showing the DNA, the egg, and the sperm doing their thing. And yes, it talks about what happens during sex too, like the penis going into the vagina and the sperm making its way to the uterus.

As you flip through the pages, you’ll find more and more information about the different stages of pregnancy. It’s a treasure trove for kids who love diving deep into the details. Just a heads up, though, this book is quite hefty. I borrowed it from the library, and boy, is it heavy! But trust me, it’s worth it.

I recently had my pregnant niece over, and she was absolutely fascinated by this book. She found the section that matched her baby’s age (she’s about six weeks along) and was like, Wow, this is what’s happening inside me right now! My own kids also had a blast flipping through the pages and learning all about pregnancy.

So, if you have a curious child who loves to read and wants to know all the ins and outs of pregnancy, this book is a must-have. It’s informative, engaging, and will satisfy their thirst for knowledge.

I hope this review helps you out. Cheers!
