A Kid’s Guide to Bodies & Babies

Course Review

A short overview of this book

A Kid’s Guide to Bodies & Babies is a fantastic one-hour online workshop for 7 to 12 year olds about bodies, body safety. reproduction, birth and more. It is positive, child-friendly, shame-free and is the creation of Rowena Thomas from Amazing Me! And it is an easy way to get this sometimes awkward conversation started!

So how does it work? You buy it and receive an email with information on how to access it. You login, watch the parent video by yourself, download and print the activity book. You then let your child know that you have an online workshop for the two of you to watch about bodies and babies, and start watching it together.

What if my child is resistant? LOL, do what I did and offer an incentive (AKA bribery). At the end of the day, what matters is that they watch it with you. So if you have to bribe them (like I did with my kid), it doesnโ€™t really matter. Yes, they may be a little reluctant, but the workshop is designed to be interactive, which means they will be engaged regardless of whether they are willing, or not! Another option to consider is to add a sweetener. Make popcorn and turn it into a special occasion between the two of you!

Hey there, it’s Cath Hak! I’ve got something exciting to share with you today. I recently came across Rowena from Amazing Me and her course on a kid’s guide to bodies and babies. Now, as you know, at Sex Ed Rescue, I’m all about empowering parents to have those important conversations with their kids. But sometimes, it can be a bit overwhelming, right? You worry about saying the right things, being age-appropriate, and not giving them too much information. Trust me, I get it.

That’s why I was so thrilled when Rowena told me about her video course. It’s a great resource for parents like us who want something to watch with our children. It takes away the stress of figuring out what to say and when to say it. Plus, Rowena is an amazing teacher who knows her stuff. She’s been teaching kids about these topics in schools, and now she’s turned it into this fantastic video course.

I have to admit, I was a bit jealous when I saw how professional and polished her videos look. She even had her son’s friend, who’s a whiz at video stuff, help her out. But hey, it’s not about looks, right? It’s about the content. And Rowena’s got that covered.

The course is divided into two age groups: 7 to 9-year-olds and 9 to 12-year-olds. It’s designed this way because the information about sex is simpler for the younger kids. Rowena covers everything from how babies are made to body safety, consent, and naming private parts. It’s a comprehensive overview of all the important topics.

Now, here’s the best part. Rowena doesn’t just expect you and your child to sit there and watch the screen. She breaks it up with activities and even gets you moving around a bit. I think that’s fantastic because it keeps things engaging and interactive.

In the videos, Rowena uses slides and also has a talking head in the corner. It’s a great mix of visuals and explanations. And don’t worry, she presents everything in an age-appropriate way. She talks about how babies are made, but she doesn’t show explicit images or anything like that. It’s all done in a way that won’t terrify or shock your kids.

Rowena also answers common questions that kids have about these topics. She covers how babies grow, how they get fed, and all the different ways a baby can be made. It’s really informative and easy to understand.

I’m so impressed with Rowena’s course. She’s a teacher, so she knows how to present information in a way that kids can grasp. And the best part is that you can use this course as a starting point for having those important conversations with your child. It’s a resource that makes it easier for us as parents.

I’m really excited about this because it means we don’t have to create everything ourselves. Rowena’s course is a valuable tool that can help us navigate these conversations with our kids. And remember, it doesn’t matter how you have the conversation, as long as you have it. We’re all about finding easier and better ways to talk about these topics, and Rowena’s program is just brilliant.

I’ve even been bugging her to create a course on pornography because let’s face it, kids reach an age where they become curious about bodies and might stumble upon explicit content. Having a resource like Rowena’s course to watch with them would be perfect for starting that conversation.

Alright, enough from me. If you have any questions, just ask. I’m here to help. Let’s make these important conversations a little easier, shall we?
