Are you looking for an engaging and relatable way to discuss important topics like puberty, periods, sex, consent, gender and more with your tweens and teens?
Then look no further! As I have pulled them all together for you in one list!
As kids go through adolescence, it can sometimes be a struggle to find a book that they will engage with. They’ll often look down their nose at the books you offer them, or the books will lie on their bedroom floor, unread and collecting dust! As a parent of reluctant-reading teen myself, I’ve found that graphic novels are a great way to get my child engaged with learning about puberty, periods, consent, gender, diversity and more.
So whether you’re a parent seeking guidance or a young person on their journey towards self-discovery – these carefully selected graphic novels will be invaluable resources for navigating puberty’s challenges. They’ll spark meaningful conversations while empowering young readers to embrace their bodies, make informed decisions, and foster healthy relationships.
And please do let me know if you find any others to add to this list!
You can find more books about different topics in the main list of Sex Education Books for Children. And if you find this list a little overwhelming, you might want to look at the age-appropriate list of sex education books.
You’ll find more information about sex education in my Sex Education 101 page.
NOTE: Before passing any book to your child or reading the book with your child, you should read it yourself first. I might think it is a great book for a certain age child or that the information is valuable, but you may disagree. You need to choose books that reflect your values and the messages you want your child to receive.
