Here you will find some LGBQ books for kids who identify as being sexually diverse ie not same-sex attracted.
The books on this list are suitable for both parents and tweens/teens. So if you have a child who is questioning their sexuality and who they are sexually attracted to, or just want a book that isn’t about ‘boys liking girls’, then these books will help both of you.
These books are also helpful to tweens and teens who are thinking about ‘coming out’, or whether they like boys or girls, both or neither. So these books will talk about being asexual, gay, lesbian,
You can find more children’s books about LGBT families in this list, that will talk about families that have two parents of the same sex. And you will also find books about being transgender and books about being non binary.
You will only find books in this list that are readily available at bookshops today.
You can find more books about different topics in the main list of Sex Education Books for Children.
And if you find this list a little overwhelming, you might want to look at the age-appropriate list of sex education books.
You’ll find more information about sex education in my Sex Education 101 page.
NOTE: Before passing any book to your child or reading the book with your child, you should read it yourself first. I might think it is a great book for a certain age child or that the information is valuable, but you may disagree. You need to choose books that reflect your values and the messages you want your child to receive.
