The best puberty books for 10 year olds

Here you will find some puberty books for 10 year olds that may (or may not) tell your child more than they are ready for

You might have a 10 year old who is starting to show some early signs of puberty. Or maybe you've noticed that they aren't but that some of their friends are. Or maybe your 10 year old is just starting to ask some questions.

The easiest way to start talking about puberty is with a book. It can be a book that you might read together. Or it may be a book that  your child reads on their own.

Make sure that your 10 year old knows that they can come to you with any questions that they might have about puberty.

The puberty books for 10 year olds that are listed here all meet the following criteria:

1. It has to be at the right reading level.

2. It has to be simple and not overwhelm kids with too  many details.

3. If it does talk about sex, it needs to be pretty basic  ie not include too much information.

Puberty books for 10 year olds, is a bit trickier than it is for younger kids. Some 10 year olds are a lot more mature than their peers. Which means that they may be a little curious about sex than other kids might be.

As kids go through puberty, they start to think about sex a little bit more.  This happens because their body is preparing them for adulthood. And the body interprets being an adult as being fertile and capable of reproducing. So their body makes sure that they will want to have sex, and will rewire their brain to start thinking about sex as something that they might want to do.

Now, you can relax, as this doesn't usually kick in for a few years yet. And even if your 10 year old is uninterested in sex, reading age-appropriate information about it, isn't going to turn them into a sex fiend.

The problem though, is that kids hear about sex in their everyday life, so they may be curious about what it's really about. And it is better they they get the right information from you than from other sources like the internet and their peers.

The puberty books for 10 year olds that are listed here will contain a mix of books that  do (and don't) talk about sex. If it talks about sex, that will be highlighted.

From my experience, it is usually the parents who are more unprepared for this information than the kids are. The kids are fine with it. They will tell you if the book is a bit too mature for them. They'll just read the bits that  are relevant to them  for that point in time, and return to the book for more information when they need it.

You'll find the puberty books for 10 year olds broken into two parts ie boys and girls.
