Best children’s books about sexting

girl with phone sexting, childrens books

Here you’ll find books that will help you to talk to your child about sexting ie messages or pictures that have sexual content like a nude picture, sexy words or a video.

Sexting is a conversation that you’ll need to think about having, especially if your child has their own phone, email account or they have signed up for any social media accounts or games where people can send them private messages.

You can find some age-appropriate information for kids about sexting from Kids Helpline. And if you don’t know what to do if your child has already received some messages, then read this article about what to do when you receive a sext.

If you’re uncertain about how to talk to your child about these types of images, then this blog post,  How to protect children from internet dangers (like online porn), can help you with getting started.

The easiest way to start this awkward conversation is with age-appropriate children’s books. Surprisingly enough, I was able to find a few books that do talk about sexting. I couldn’t find a book that was 100% about sexting, but I did find some books that talk about it.

I haven’t included any sex education books for teenagers in this list, as many of them talk about sexting as well as many other sexual topics! So if you have an older teen, you can also look at the books on that list.

You will only find books in this list that are readily available at bookshops today.

You can find more books about different topics in the main list of Sex Education Books for Children.

And if you find this list a little overwhelming, you might want to look at the age-appropriate list of sex education books.

You’ll find more information about sex education in my Sex Education 101 page.

NOTE: Before passing any book to your child or reading the book with your child, you should read it yourself first. I might think it is a great book for a certain age child or that the information is valuable, but you may disagree. You need to choose books that reflect your values and the messages you want your child to receive.
