The best puberty books for 13 year olds

There are some good puberty books for 13 year olds who might need some information about puberty.

Most of the books that are listed on this page will also talk about all the other things that go with puberty eg love, sex, relationships, etc.

You’ll find the puberty books for 13 year olds broken into two parts ie boys (or males) and girls (or females).

You can find more books about different topics in the main list of Sex Education Books for Children.

And if you find this list a little overwhelming, you might want to look at the age-appropriate list of sex education books.

You’ll find more information about puberty in my Puberty 101 page.

There are a lot of puberty books in this list which means it’ll be hard to make a choice.

I thought I would share the books that I’m always recommending to parents of 13 year olds.

If you want a book for boys or kids with a male body, then you might like Guy Talk or What’s Going on Down There as they are simple but comprehensive. Puberty Boy is a really nice informative book that has a lot of information that is presented in a really nice way.

If you want a book for girls or kids with a female body, then you might like Girl Talk or The Period Book (which is more about puberty than just periods). Puberty Girl is also a really nice book that is quite detailed and has a lovely gentle approach (plus it doesn’t talk about sex).

If you want a book that is for all kids, then my new favourite puberty book which talks about everything (including love, relationships and sex) is Does This Happen to Everyone.  It is very comprehensive but it is fun and not too confronting. The photos inside it are excellent too! Another favourite is the comic book Wait, What? by Heather Corinna (it is very inclusive and educational).

NOTE: Before passing any book to your child or reading the book with your child, you should read it yourself first. I might think it is a great book for a certain age child or that the information is valuable, but you may disagree. You need to choose books that reflect your values and the messages you want your child to receive.

These are some of the many sex education books suitable for 13 year olds, that have been written. As I find more, I will add them to this list. They are all really good books that they can read to find reliable and accurate information about love, sex and relationships.

Happy reading!
